Delete your Shard profile
1In the app
- Open Shard and go to Settings.
- At the bottom, tap Delete my profile everywhere.
- Type DELETE and tap Delete everywhere. Your phone needs to be online.
2What is deleted
- Your posts, comments, messages and profile picture, on the phones of your friends, followers, the people you follow and the people you chat with.
- The profile on this device and your other devices (a device that's switched off does it when it next comes online).
- Everything the Shard relay keeps about you: your name, your devices, push tokens, items waiting for or from you, the date you were first seen, your reporter record and reports about you.
3What isn't
- If your profile was suspended or banned, the ban record (profile ID, device IDs and the reason) is kept, so deleting can't be used to get around a ban.
- Reports you made about other people stay until they're decided, without your profile ID.
- Copies people saved outside Shard, such as screenshots.
- Your 24 words can't be cancelled: anyone who has them can start the profile again, empty. Destroy the paper you wrote them on.
4If you can't open the app
Lost your phone? Install Shard on any phone, choose I have my 24 words, then delete the profile as above. Or do nothing: the relay forgets every profile it hasn't seen for 90 days, and your friends' phones drop your posts as they get older.
Never type your 24 words into a website or send them to anyone, including us.
